Inspired by a humorous speech-to-text typo in a Facebook post, this is a close adaptation of Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” spiced up with Spanish flavors. It begins and ends in the original way, but has a middle section that is rhythmically challenging and aurally stimulating. This interpretation works for virtually any context, but is especially advantageous in an educational context.

Written by frontman Adam Levine for the Maroon 5 debut album, Songs About Jane, this rock anthem is a powerful showcase for every instrument in the quartet. This arrangement features a virtuosic – yet playable – violin solo.

Performance Notes:
This arrangement follows the map of the original recording, can be adapted for length. The arranger suggests playing the solo section without the violin 1 part the first time and then adding it in the second time.

This mix was an experiment for the benefit of my students in Audio Technology. What do you do if you don’t have access to the original stems of a song. Are there ANY options to create something new when all you have is a finished mix, and instrumental track, and an acapella track?

This mix was created completely in Adobe Audition (no beat mapping), using the original mix, an instrumental track, and an acapella track (the thumbnail for this video is a screencap of the final multitrack session).
